1978 Torker
26" BMX Cruiser
 |
This here is my personal baby!
I picked up the frame/fork, Araya 7C's, Phil Wood hubs, Pro Neck stem and some other parts
not worth mentioning for $80.00 at a new/used bike shop.
After a lot of steel wool and chrome polish plus some other part purchases...
"what you see is what I got".Here's
what's on it:
- 1978 Torker Cruiser F/F
- Kos Cruiser Bars w/Mushroom Grips
- Pro Neck
- Ukai Rims, f-hub: SR, r-hub: Schwinn Approved
- Schwinn Sadle (late 70's road sadle) w/steel post
- CMX Seat Clamp (has the X-Caliber look)
- Ecell Racer Caliper w/Mathouser Finned Pads
- Dia-Compe "Bent Lever"
- MKS Foot Jaws Pedals
- Redline 401 Flite Cranks
- Tuff Neck Spyder w/Sugino Chain Ring
- Continental Grand Canyon 26x2.125 Tires

Out of my collection of Old Schoolers, this bike is probably my favorite to take
out for a ride. It is definitely not outfitted with all the correct gear for 1978
but the way its setup makes it a mo' betta performer on the MTB trails.
When I first tore it down to restore the chrome, I was amazed at how light it was
for the year, Torker did a good job for back in the day! In case you missed the
"mouseover", if you click on the 1st photo it will popup a pic showing a better
view of the twin top tubes and gussets. Some
things I would like to get for it would be, old Arayas, NOS Mongoose Gold Stem, gold anno
fluted seat post, proper pad set for the year and of course an original sticker set or at
least a photo of the original stickers.
So far I'm the only one I know of that has one of these but I
know there has to be more of these out there!?! |
